Charlotte, N.C. - The Charlotte Invasion Women's Developmental Basketball Team will host OC Foundation Day on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Bette Rae Thomas Recreation Center in Charlotte to help raise awareness for sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) in athletes, adults and kids alike. Omar Carter of the OC Foundation will be speaking during half time of the game where the undefeated, top ranked Charlotte Invasion will take on the Winston Salem Lady Warcats! Omar Carter suffered from SCA in 2013. Since that time, he has opened the doors of the OC Foundation to raise awareness and provide Compression Only CPR demonstrations to kids and athletes in the Charlotte community and beyond. According to the Heart Rhythm Society, SCA occurs when the heart stops beating, which results in a stoppage of blood flow to the brain and other vital organs. The condition results in more than 350,000 deaths each year and claims more lives than breast cancer, lung cancer or AIDS.
Please join us as we educate our community on the importance of CPR training and cardiovascular health awareness. Omar will also speak about the upcoming Heart of Gold All-Star Weekend that will take place June 19-20, 2015 and will combine celebrity appearances with education and networking.
