Charlotte Invasion Teams Up with Habitat Charlotte To Bring Hope and Happiness to a Charlotte Family
Fall is here and for many Charlotteans without a home, that means the reality of winter is around the corner. Charlotte Invasion and Habitat for Humanity will be joining forces on October 15, 2016, to bring one family – home for the holidays!
Habitat Charlotte strives for a world where everyone has a decent place to live and they bring people together to build homes, communities, and hope! Charlotte Invasion is once again furthering the mission to engage the community through service and has partnered with Habitat Charlotte to lend a hand and help bring hope and a little happiness to a Charlotte family.
“In 2016, Charlotte Invasion has moved forward along 4 tiers of community outreach that consistently adhere to the vision that we hold close to our hearts. Facilitating education and hope, and building role models that will support our community has been our focus this year and will be into the future,” said Tonya Phifer, owner. Those tiers are as follows:
· Invasion Gives
· Invasion Speaks
· Invasion Teaches
· Invasion Connects
The partnership with Habitat Charlotte closely aligns with Tier 1 and Tier 4. Invasion Gives is a philanthropic arm that supports the community through giveaways, service and time. Invasion Connects as part of Charlotte’s landscape by connecting to our community in various ways including outreach, networking and increasing awareness.

The rebirth of the WBCBL Suncoast Region has begun with the hatching of the Central Florida Swans. On August 14th, the Central Florida Swans dialed into their first radio interview to begin building their fanbase and team history. The Swans are the new team on the block and based in Tampa, Florida and have already made two television appearances within the past few weeks.
The Swans’ team owners / visionaries are Ms. Allegra Schell, 2009 New England Basketball Hall of Famer and Coach Travis Wathen, St. Louis, Missouri area native and a former standout (2-sport athlete) at Savanah State University.
Having seen how the St. Louis Surge has done in the league and the timing for women's basketball in Florida, Coach Travis decided to create the Swans and start getting the ball rolling in a hurry by signing Alisha Collins to the Central Florida Swans. Collins played at Southeastern University (2012-2013) and is the daughter of Sherod Keeton (Barry University) and former NFL Pro, Tony Collins.
We’re excited and looking forward to bringing women’s professional basketball to back Central Florida and giving our ladies the opportunity to play in the WBCBL.
