Des Moines, IA Des Moines’ newest sports attraction, the Iowa Force women’s basketball team has begun its inaugural season. Coached by former Drake basketball player Ja’Nae` Mosley, the Force have assembled a current roster of 10 players for this 2016 season. Now two games into the season, the Force are sitting at a record of 1-1 following an opening week loss to the Nebraska Strikers and a victory this past week against the Missouri Arch Angels. The Force will play their next game at home against the St. Louis Surge, at AIB College of Business in Des Moines on May 21st. The Force will look to advance their record to 2-1 on the season. At the next home game on the 21st of May, the Force will be doing a fundraiser for Race for Hope Des Moines. Make sure you are at the game that day to find out how you can help. The Force will also be hosting a basketball camp on Thursday, June 2nd from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Valley Community Center in West Des Moines for ages 8-18. Charlotte, N.C. - Charlotte Invasion is more than just a national championship basketball team. This hometown team is focused on mobilizing players to become community resource ambassadors in addition to champions! The 2016 season will prove to be the most exciting yet as they will embark on new partnerships with organizations throughout Charlotte. The belief that being a champion is a way of life is integral in the Charlotte Invasion organization. Charlotte Invasion is still a young franchise, however, they were regular season champs, regional champions, and are the current national champions and are ranked #1 in the nation – ending the season at 15-0. Charlotte Invasion has 3 players who were drafted to the Euro league; Tiffany Brown – Sweden; Kelsey Harris – Ireland; and in 2014, Lindsey Montgomery – Romania. In addition, last season the team boasted four players in the top 10 in the region, and one ranked in the top 10 in the nation. The 2016 season will undoubtedly yield even more accolades and awards for Charlotte Invasion! On the court, Charlotte Invasion has proven to be the best, but it doesn’t stop there with this team. Off the court, they have created leadership development opportunities through strategic partnerships with Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, The Omar Carter Charity, Mecklenburg Parks and Recreation and the American Cancer Society. Our purpose to provide educational outreach to athletes, team members and supporters on promoting, achieving and maintaining a healthy heart and lifestyle is further exemplified through our community relations. A graduate of the University of Akron, Jolene also known as “Jo”, is guard/ post player and is valuable asset to the Georgia Soul.
