![]() Amara Mayer’s scored 13Pts, Katherine Goldsby scored 12Pts and Nicole Caddell scored 11Pts as the Alabama Reign was able to record their first victory in team history. As another compliment to their first game in history, it was a regional game also. The Alabama Reign joined the WBCBL this year and is looking to be a powerhouse team not only in the Gulf South Region, but the League. Coach Davis has high expectations for this group of young ladies. “This group of young ladies have a special desire to become professionals at the highest level and they definitely put in the work to be just that!” Coach Davis explains his style of play as “Work Hard No Excuses”. All I ask from my players is to WORK HARD and Give No Excuses. If they mess up or make a mistake , just try to make up for it, No Excuses Allowed Period! The Alabama Reign was able to get everyone on the board as far as scoring. “I play all of my players no matter what.” “Everyone will play, no one will sit the bench”. “If they sit on the bench, why are they here”. We were able to get a solid contribution from every player on the team Davis stated. That is our system(TEAM). Rashida Young, Alexus Davis, Carlee Hirt and Nicole Caddell combined for a total of 34 rebounds, 11 which was offensive rebounds. Latisha McCullum was a key part of our first half success, not only from her sharp shooting, but her energy on the defensive end was second to none. Ivory Smith played great post defense on their Post Players which disrupted their offense. The bench played very well and they really kept the momentum going as our starters got a break. Shelby Williams and Jazmine Evans did a great job running the team and getting us into our early offense. Defensively, we played with high energy, but we will need to improve on keeping that intensity for 40mins. We had some drop off from time to time but were able to regain it. We, as a team, have a lot of work to do to become a nationally recognized team, but we are up for the challenge. The Alabama Reign next game is June 10th, 2017 at 2:00pm. They will play another conference game at home against the Gulf Coast Tropics. |
