The WBCBL MidSouth region put on quite a show on Sunday afternoon as the San Antonio Crusader hosted the Dallas Diesel. The Crusader’s home opener took place at the WNBA San Antonio Silver Stars’ practice facility, which is also the home of the San Antonio Crusaders.
Defense was the opening theme for both teams as the game began with a series of blocked shots and steals. Each team held one another scoreless for the first 2 minutes of play.
Eventually, the Crusaders would strike first and built a 10-point lead by the end of the first quarter. Once the 2nd quarter began, the Diesel started rolling and made a comeback to take a 5-point lead before the half.
During the 3rd quarter, the Lady Diesel would continue to build their by as much as 18 points. The 4th quarter was a roller coaster as the Crusaders caught their second-wind and went on a 12-2 run. With time winding down, the Diesel called a timeout to regroup. With 4-minutes and 52-seconds remaining in regulation, the Lady Diesel turn up the defense and hold the Crusaders to only 2 points and hold on to win 88-78.
